Why early nutrition matters
Puppies and kittens grow faster in their first year than at any other point in life. Getting nutrition right sets the foundation for lifelong health.
Puppies
- Feed a puppy-formulated food until 12–18 months (large breeds longer).
- 3 meals a day until ~6 months, then drop to 2.
- Portion by body weight — check the food label daily as they grow.
- Avoid sudden food changes; transition over 7–10 days.
